Daily Personal Care Support in South East Melbourne

Mornings fall apart when personal care takes longer than the day allows, or when the only people who can help are already exhausted. Privacy matters, and so does getting the routine right. Daily personal care is NDIS assistance with personal activities so you can start, move through, and end the day with dignity.

Melbourne Care Ability supports participants across South East Melbourne with personal care that follows your preferences. That may include showering, dressing, grooming, eating, and help to move safely around your home. You choose how support is given. We match workers with those choices wherever we can, and we agree the details in writing before the first visit.

What is daily personal care, and why you need it

Assistance with daily personal activities is hands-on support with everyday personal tasks. It is the care that helps you wash, dress, groom, eat, and manage the personal parts of your routine when doing those tasks alone is not possible, or not safe.

People need this support to stay healthy, comfortable, and in control of their own home. Without a reliable person at the right time, families fill the gap, or the routine gets skipped. Neither should be the only option.

This is different from high intensity personal care, which covers more complex clinical-style tasks, and from household tasks, which cover cleaning and meals in the home rather than care of the person. Some participants use more than one of these supports. We can help you see which request belongs where.

Our daily personal care process

  1. 1

Step 1: Talk through the routine

We ask how you like mornings, evenings, and meals to run, and what you do not want a worker to do.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Match the worker

We look at skills, timing, gender preference, language, and personality. We tell you if we cannot meet a preference.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Agree the visits

You review a service agreement that sets the tasks, days, and how to raise a concern.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Deliver and adjust

Support follows the routine. If a time, task, or worker is not working, we review it with you.

Frequently asked questions

What tasks are included in daily personal care?

Typical tasks are showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and help with eating, when those supports are in your NDIS plan. The agreement lists the tasks we will actually do. We do not add intimate or personal tasks that you have not agreed to.

Can I choose the gender of my support worker?

Tell us your preference at referral. We will try to match it. If a preferred worker is unavailable for a shift, we will contact you before sending someone else, wherever that is possible.

Is personal care available on weekends or evenings?

It can be, when your plan includes those times and we have workers available. Tell us the times that matter most, including mornings before other supports or late evenings. We will confirm what we can roster before you sign an agreement.

What is the difference between personal care and household tasks?

Personal care is help with your body and personal routine. Household tasks are help to clean, tidy, or prepare meals in the home. They are separate NDIS supports. You may be funded for one, both, or neither. We will not use one support to quietly cover the other.

How do I raise a concern about a visit?

Contact us by phone or email and say what happened. We take concerns about personal care seriously, review the visit, and agree what will change. If you are unsafe right now, call 000.

Build a personal care routine that fits

Tell us the tasks you want help with and the time of day they matter. We will talk through daily personal care, worker matching, and whether we can start.

Call 0494 607 196. Services depend on your plan, funding, worker availability, and a signed service agreement.
